The Backdrop
The world is changing rapidly. It seems like everyday there is a new development in technology that will change the way we live and work. A study by the IMF estimates that 60 percent of jobs in advanced economies could be impacted by AI. The question isn’t if things will change, but by how much. Making it crucial for society to equip individuals with tools for rapid learning.
A healthy online education ecosystem is critical to rapid skill acquisition. However, the online education landscape is still relatively young and there are opportunities for improvement. Many learners, including myself, have navigated the challenging path of acquiring new skills in isolation. While there’s no shortage of educational content online, the opportunities to connect and learn with and from peers is still limited.
The Solution
This is where SOLEN comes in. Our mission at SOLEN is to bring community to online learning. SOLEN was an idea born out of my own experience becoming a self-taught software developer. I did a lot of my learning in isolation and wished that I had more of a community around me. This could have saved time and effort as well as making the journey more enjoyable. My aim is to build a platform that helps others going through a similar journey.
SOLEN is being designed to focus on quality interactions and relevant connections. We want to create a space for smaller intimate groups that allow for deeper and longer lasting connections. Further, our aim is to create a platform that is simple to use. Existing community platforms can often be geared to a more technical audience isolating a large number of people who want a more straightforward experience.
As SOLEN evolves, we envision becoming a leading platform for not just learning, but also for creation and collaboration. We’re dedicated to building a space where builders, makers, creators (however you identify) can come together to learn, network and collaborate.
